A deeper dive.

Life is extremely difficult for Palestinian children. They endure physical and emotional violence from Israeli Occupation Forces and Israeli settlers, and their access to education and healthcare is severely limited. 

Journeys to and from school are fraught with danger. In the first 6 months of 2021, 24 Palestinian children were injured by Israeli settlers. 

At night Israeli Occupation Forces storm into family homes, violently pulling children from their beds. This occurs on a near-daily basis.

Using lethal force against a child is a violation of international law, but Israel repeatedly targets Palestinian children. In May 2021 Israel murdered 67 Palestinian children in Gaza. 

In the illegally occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, education is restricted by checkpoints and the Apartheid Wall. In one area of Hebron 88% of children have to pass through a military checkpoint to get to school.  

Repeated Israeli bombardments in Gaza have significantly reduced the number of school facilities. 2 out of 3 schools in Gaza operate on double or triple shifts as a result of this.

The health of Palestinian children suffers hugely under Israeli apartheid. Israel makes it very difficult for Palestinian children to get the medical help they need, particularly in Gaza. Permits to leave Gaza for medical treatment are almost impossible to obtain.

There is a rapidly deteriorating mental health crisis among Palestinian children. Over 50% of children in Gaza think about suicide and 70% of young Palestinians in Gaza suffer from PTSD.
