In a powerful display of solidarity with Jenin and Palestine, hundreds of activists gathered outside the Israeli Embassy in London on Wednesday to demand an immediate end to Israel's ongoing violence against Palestinians.#TeamFOA and others also called on the British government to scrap its oppressive 'anti-BDS Bill’.
The protest was prompted by Israel's recent barbaric attack on Jenin refugee camp. This assault, conducted through ground and air strikes, was the largest offensive on the occupied West Bank for 20 years. Israel murdered 12 Palestinians in the attack, including 4 children.
This coincided with the second reading of the 'anti-BDS Bill' in Parliament on Monday. If this goes ahead, it will become illegal for public bodies like universities to boycott and divest from companies and countries complicit in human rights abuses and violations of international law, like the apartheid state of Israel.
Ismail Patel, Chair and Founder of FOA said “what we’ve witnessed in Jenin this week is another grim episode in Israel’s relentless brutality against Palestinians. We’ve gathered to demand an end to this. We’re calling for sanctions on Israel and also recommitting our efforts to standing up for Palestinians by urging everyone to email their MPs to oppose the dangerous 'anti-BDS Bill’. By acting swiftly together, we have the power to stop this oppressive legislation from going ahead”.
Wednesday’s action was organised by FOA in collaboration with PFB, CND, PSC, STW and MAB.
