Gaza Seige

1.8 million people unable to leave Gaza due to Israel's siege

Gaza has faced Israeli military blockade since 2007 and remains under siege by land, air and sea. It is now the world's largest open air prison.

The people of Gaza only have access to electricity for 3-4 hours each day, severely impacting on their lives:

  • 97% of the natural water found in Gaza is unsafe to drink due to untreated pollutants and a lack of electricity

  • 95% of the children in Gaza are traumatised, malnourished and/or suffer severe depression

  • 373,000 children need psychological support

  • 73% of Gazans rely on food aid to survive

  • 100,000 civilians are still homeless

  • 200+ schools were damaged by Israeli boombs in 2014.
