FOA is alarmed to hear that Britain is blocking the International Court of Justice’s ruling on the illegality of Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

Last month Britain submitted a 43-page legal opinion opposing the ICJ’s investigation altogether.

Britain has a long history of denying Palestinian rights and complicity in Israeli violations of international law. From the early twentieth century until its arms deals with Israel today, the UK consistently fails to stand up for the human rights of Palestinians.

Make no mistake - if the ICJ were investigating Russia, Britain would not hesitate to support its ruling.

Israel’s ongoing Nakba against Palestinians is now in its 75th year and Israel has the most rightwing government in its history. Britain must support the ICJ’s ruling and stand up for human rights and international law.
