Gaza is a Palestinian enclave on the Mediterranean coast, near Israel and Egypt. It is 41km long and 10km wide - a similar size to Sheffield in the UK.
Israel has placed Gaza under air, land and sea blockade since 2007. This means there are extremely tight Israeli restrictions on what can go in and out of Gaza, including aid and the freedom of movement of Palestinians. Also, Israel regularly carries out brutal bombardments on Gaza. In August 2022 Israel killed at least 44 Palestinians in Gaza, including 15 children.
This makes life extremely difficult for Palestinians in Gaza. The situation is dire. We can all take action to help #EndTheSiege: email your MP now asking them to support sanctions on Israel until it lifts its inhumane siege of Gaza.
Following the forced evictions of Palestinian families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem, Israel killed 256 Palestinians in Gaza, including 66 children.
On 16 May 2021 Israel targeted two residential buildings of the Abu al-Ouf and al-Kolaq families in Gaza, killing 30 family members including 11 children.
Amnesty International has since called for an investigation into Israel’s targeting of residential buildings in Gaza.
In August 2022 Israel bombarded Gaza again, this time killing at least 44 Palestinians, including 15 children.
